Canine Carnival - RSPCA Darwin Regional Branch

Canine Carnival

George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens

Saturday 10 October – 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Bring your dog, your family, and your friends for a relaxed morning walk through the beautiful George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens – all while helping animals in need.

Canine Carnival is a family-friendly community event supporting responsible dog ownership and the work of RSPCA Northern Territory caring for and rehoming dogs. The event features a 2km dog walk through the George Brown Botanic
Gardens, competitions, presentations and community stalls
, encouraging dog
lovers to come together for a good cause.

Participation is by donation, supporting the RSPCA’s ongoing animal welfare work.

We aim to see at least 100 dogs and 200 humans… that’s approximately 800 feet walking through the
Gardens.

Are you up for the
challenge?

Participation by Donation – we understand some doggy families are finding it tough at the moment, simply donate what you can, be that $5 or $500. All donations kindly received and anything over $2 is tax
deductible (that’s another bonus).

A Morning for Dogs and the People Who Love Them

Start your Saturday with a gentle walk through one of Darwin’s most beautiful locations. The Botanic Gardens provide the perfect setting for a social, dog-friendly morning surrounded by nature.

You’ll meet other local dog lovers, see plenty of wagging tails, and be part of a community that cares about animal welfare in the Northern Territory.

Participation by Donation

There’s no fixed ticket price.

Simply donate whatever you can to take part.

Every dollar donated helps RSPCA NT provide food, shelter, veterinary care, and rehabilitation for animals who arrive at our shelter sick, injured, neglected or abandoned.

Even a small donation makes a real difference.

 What to Expect

• A relaxed community dog walk through the Botanic Gardens
• Meet other dog owners and animal lovers
• Enjoy a beautiful Darwin Saturday morning outdoors
• Support animals in need across the Northern Territory

Bring your dog, bring your friends, and enjoy a morning celebrating the bond between people and their pets.

Bringing Your Dog – What You Need to Know

Canine Carnival is a dog-friendly community event. To keep the day safe and enjoyable for everyone, please follow these requirements when bringing your dog:

  • Dogs must remain on-lead at all times throughout the event, including during the walk and within the event area.
  • Please only bring dogs that are comfortable in busy environments with other dogs, people, children, noise and activity.
  • Aggressive or uncontrolled dogs may be asked to leave. RSPCA NT reserves the right to ask an owner to remove their dog if their behaviour presents a risk to other dogs, attendees, staff or volunteers.
  • Owners are responsible for their dogs at all times and must maintain appropriate control and supervision.
  • Please clean up after your dog. Dog waste bags and designated bins will be available around the event area and walking route.
  • Respect other dogs’ space. Please don’t allow your dog to approach another dog without the owner’s permission.
  • Keep your dog comfortable and hydrated. Bring water and monitor your dog for signs of heat stress, anxiety or discomfort.
  • Children should be supervised around unfamiliar dogs and should always ask the owner before approaching or patting a dog.
  • Follow directions from event staff and volunteers relating to dog safety, event areas and the walking route.

By attending Canine Carnival with your dog, you agree to take responsibility for your dog’s supervision, behaviour and welfare while at the event.
